“Good morning and happy new year!” began the cheerful note from Maui County Communications Specialist Lois Whitney. And what a beginning for the Maui High Sabers Marching Band!

Please see attached photo, sent this morning courtesy of Mayor and Mrs. Ann Arakawa. They traveled with the Maui High School Band to witness the historical event as the Saber band became the first band from Maui ever to march in the Rose Parade.
They also saw the band march through Main Street of Disneyland yesterday, complete with color guard and hula dancers. The band has been receiving tremendous response from crowds everywhere.
The last time a neighbor island band was featured in the Rose Parade was 1992, Hilo High.
